Happy #worldtheatreday! During these uncertain times it’s important to come together and celebrate our passions. We also want to give a huge shoutout to the people and organisations who make theatre happen. It’s a difficult time for the industry but we will get through this together!

Update on Shrek the Musical: We had a very diffic

Update on Shrek the Musical:

We had a very difficult meeting last tonight with the creative team and the committee where we discussed the future of our beloved show, Shrek The Musical.
Due to the current unprecedented circumstances that we are all facing, it is with great sadness that we have decided to postpone Shrek the Musical until Summer 2021.

After considering the option of running rehearsals via video link and learning things remotely we collectively came to the conclusion that we would not be able to do the materials justice and we would also lose the social element of rehearsals which has always been of key importance to the Quay Players family.

We hope you can take some comfort in the fact that this show WILL go on stage. It’s just a case of WHEN, rather than IF.

On a more positive note, we have discussed the possibility of a late summer / early autumn cabaret and / or a 48 hour musical where the current Shrek cast would be given priority to be involved. Given the uncertain circumstances we can’t yet give you any firm dates but as soon as we have any updates we will let you know.
